Have you ever wondered how the car logos were chosen by the auto manufacturers?

Each car logo has a unique history and story behind it’s design.

Did a wallpaper pattern in a Paris hotel room inspire the famous Chevrolet Bowtie emblem?

Does the blue and white BMW roundel really symbolize a propeller and sky? And was the Porsche logo first sketched on a napkin in a New York City restaurant?

In the world of automobile logos, truth can be stranger than fiction—though a good story can go a long way toward embellishing a brand’s corporate identity.

What Not to Say When Pulled Over by a Cop

I was reading this excellent article by Jeffiner Waters about what not say when pulled over by a cop.

Citizens who are generally law-abiding are likely to come into contact with the police only under two circumstances: If you’re a crime victim or you get pulled over for a traffic violation.

Police officers are not out to make your life miserable, but to make sure you’re following the rules of the road and not endangering yourself or those around you.

With a few exceptions, and an egregious traffic violation is top among them, cops aren’t mandated to write tickets. Most would rather send you on your way with a friendly warning — that can save you time and money.

But handle the situation with an aggressive or arrogant attitude and you can expect to squeeze an expensive court date into your busy schedule.

I love the Dodge Viper and used to own a 92 and 93 dodge viper which is the first and 2nd year production models. My vipers did not have air conditioning so when driving in the middle of the summer in 90 degree weather it would get hot inside.

I was reading this article on the future of Dodge Viper and glad they will begin to produce the car probably in 2012 or 2013 with an all new sleek design like the photo below:

In 2008, Dodge sold 1172 Vipers; in 2009, only 659. Prior to that, close to 2000 Vipers were rolling off dealer lots per year. Over 25,000 of these venomous sports cars have been sold since Dodge introduced it in 1992, making the Viper a success, at least until last year’s dismal performance.

Here’s the full article with details on the future dodge viper.

How to Transform a Good Credit Score to Great

Here’s a great article to make your credit score great.

Our columnists are constantly fielding questions from our readers about credit issues. However, over the years, we’ve seen certain issues pop up more often than others. All this week, we’re having each of our columnists field one of the most frequently asked questions for our users. “To Her Credit” columnist Sally Herigstad is today’s columnist.

Question: I’m planning to buy a house in about six months, so I’d really like my credit score to be in the 800s by then. I already pay my bills on time. How can I make my credit score off-the-charts great?

The good news is that 750 is more than “pretty good.” Many lenders say they offer their best rates to customers with scores of about 720 or better.

However, in today’s credit market, it’s better to have a higher score than is absolutely necessary. And most of the tactics you’ll use to raise your score make good financial sense anyway. I think working to improve your credit score from good to great is a very worthy goal!
