Senate Passes Bill Cash for Clunkers

The senate has passed a bill cash for clunkers and has been sent to President Obama’s desk for approval.

When approved consumers may qualify for up to $4,500 voucher toward a new car.

You need to trade in a 1984 or newer car and have an average fuel economy of no more than 18 miles to the gallon to be eligible.

The new car must get better gas mileage than the old clunker.

The amount of the voucher depends on the fuel efficiency difference.  In order to get the full $4,500 voucher the new car must get at least 10 more miles per gallon than the traded in vehicle.

You will get $3,500 voucher if the new car gets 4 miles more per gallon.
