I used to sell new cars for Toyota and you will pay a premium upfront to own a hybrid car.
One time we were playing around with a calculator and estimated you needed to keep the car until 180,000 miles before you pay for the premium upfront and in fuel savings.
Here’s the big secret they don’t tell you.
What are you going to do when your warranty runs out at 100,000 miles?
You have to go to certified hybrid mechanics and can not go to the local garage to get oil changes because below the car it says danger warning can cause electrical shock, etc.
So if your the kind of person who likes to change the oil then you better think twice.
The certified Hybrid Toyota mechanic told me that if they make one mistake with the motor and transmission will blow a hole right thru them killing them instantly from the electrical current.
It’s very expensive for parts and labor so be prepared for the maintenance costs which are hidden until the future.
You need to way out the risk when buying a hybrid car and how long you plan on keeping the car weighs into the big picture.
